Products with sag and humidity resistance maintain a flat, attractive ceiling surface in areas prone to moisture. •Standard: Appropriate for climate-controlled interior spaces. • Better (HUMIGUARD Plus): Ceiling panels with HUMIGUARD Plus performance maintain superior sag resistance and are recommended for areas subject to high humidity, up to but NOT including standing water or outdoor applications. • Best (HUMIGUARD Max): Maintain maximum humidity and sag resistance in areas of 100% humidity and standing water, such as indoor pools and outdoor applications.

Sustainable

This product is made from a high amount of recycled content, free from 'chemicals of concern' and meets various green building standards in the US.

Cleanable

This product is able to withstand light washing, without compromising the finish or other attributes. It’s best used in laboratories, clean rooms, food prep areas, or any other space where cleanliness is a concern.

This product can withstand surface scratching from people or objects. It’s best used in areas where the plenum needs frequent access, such as hospital corridors, school corridors, or bus terminals.

Standard Mold/Mildew Resistance

Products with mold and mildew resistance inhibit the growth of mold and mildew on the ceiling tile. • Standard: Appropriate for climate controlled interior spaces. • Better (BIOBLOCK): Ceiling tiles with BIOBLOCK performance resist the growth of mold and mildew on the ceiling tile surface. • Best (BIOBLOCK Plus): BIOBLOCK Plus performance tiles resist the growth of odor and stain-producing bacteria, as well as mold and mildew on the ceiling tile surface.

Fire Rating: Class A

Building codes have specific fire performance requirements for materials considered interior finishes based on the flame-spread index and smoke-developed index. The performance criteria is broken into three categories: Class A, Class B, and Class C. Class A materials have a flame-spread index of 25 or less and smoke-developed index of 450 or less. Class B materials have a flame-spread index of 26-75 and smoke-developed index of 450 or less. Class C materials have a flame-spread index of 76–200 and smoke-developed index of 450 or less. Class A materials are appropriate in many commercial applications and Class C (or better) materials are appropriate in many residential applications. Contact your local code official for additional requirements concerning mechanical and sprinkler use.

Where is the best space to use TECTUM tiles and wall panels?

These products are ideally suited to open spaces and high traffic, high impact areas because of their acoustic ability and their impact and scratch resistance. In addition, TECTUM panels hold up well in high moisture areas like swimming pools.

How do I install TECTUM panels?

Please check the installation method. Panels can be attached directly to walls and ceilings in forms of panels, clouds, and square or curved and some panels are meant to install using our standard grid systems.

How often should I change my tiles?

It is recommended to change ceiling tiles out every 10 years. We have a 10-year warranty on most ceiling tiles. You can always patch and match a few tiles in the interim to transform any space or fix damages.

Can I paint TECTUM tiles?

Panels can be field painted up to six times without impacting acoustic or fire performance. For minor dings and scratches, we recommend using a Sharpie in a similar color.

What are the different types of TECTUM products I can choose?

There are a number of different products within the TECTUM line.

How do I find replacement tiles?

To find replacement tiles, you will need to find the item number of your current tiles. You can do that by removing the ceiling tile and flipping it over. Once you do that, locate the item # on the back of the tile. Enter the item number on our ceiling replacement page to get your match.

How do you clean and disinfect ceiling tiles?

Dust and loose dirt may easily be removed by light brushing or with a vacuum cleaner. The best attachments to use are the ones for cleaning upholstery or walls. Make sure to clean in one direction only to prevent rubbing dust into the surface of the ceiling.

After loose dust has been removed, other marks can be easily erased with an ordinary eraser. Although, a fresh wall cleaner may be preferred.

Mineral fiber ceilings may be cleaned with a moist cloth or a sponge dampened in water containing mild soap. The sponge should contain as little water as possible. After washing, the soapy film should be wiped off with a cloth or sponge slightly dampened in clean water.

What is NRC?

The Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) value is the % of sound that can be absorbed by that tile. The best NRC ceiling tiles can absorb up to 95% of sound. Example: An NRC of .95 can absorb 95% of the sound that strikes the tiles surface.

What is CAC?

The Ceiling Attenuation Class (CAC) value is the number of decibels the tile can block from leaving or entering a closed room when installed as a drop ceiling. The best ceiling tiles have a CAC of 45, which blocks 45 decibels of sound that hit the tiles surface.

Started in 2020, Kanopi is the direct-to-consumer platform of Armstrong World Industries. What is FIRE GUARD and how is it different than a product's fire rating?

FIRE GUARD means that the product is engineered and tested as part of a fire resistant system, which includes tile, grid and the structure itself. Please check local building codes requirements for your space. The following link will direct you to additional information and support for Armstrong's Fire Resistant ceiling systems.

Fire ratings refer to flame spread and smoke development. Ratings indicate how rapidly flame spreads on one surface as compared to another. Armstrong products come packaged in cartons to protect and maintain product integrity. Shipping individual or smaller groups of tiles or grid can impact the quality of tile or grid. Kanopi sells solely in carton format because of this reason. BONUS: It's always good to have extra material on hand for accidents or damage over time.
