Drop ceilings are the cost-effective way to finish a large space. When you install a drop ceiling, you're introducing enhanced acoustic performance while allowing quick access to ductwork, plumbing, and the wiring above.
Remove planks or tiles from their carton at least 24 hours before installation. This allows them to adjust to normal interior conditions of the area where installation will take place.
Plan the layout of the ceiling.
• Determine the height of where the wall molding will be.
• Draw the ceiling to scale before cutting or installing.
Hang the wall molding by snapping a level chalk line at the height of the ceiling.
• Screw into the wall every 18-24 inches.
Attach hanger wire to main beams.
• Bend hanger wires so the bottom of the main beams are level with the bottom of the molding.
Add cross tees into the main beam to create the square the tile will sit in (typically 2’ x 2’ or 2’ x 4’). Insert the second tee into the slot by passing on the right side of the already installed cross tee.
Installing cross tees is easier if the tee is inserted into the rectangular slot at a downward angle from above the grid plane. Listen for an audible click to ensure a good connection.
When installing panels, lift at an angle up through the grid; drop into place.
• If there’s an obstruction in the area where you are inserting a ceiling tile, you may need to lift the ceiling tile through an adjacent opening and gently move it across the back of the grid into place.
• Trim border panels using a straight edge.

Never install ceiling panels below an existing ceiling that contains embedded radiant-heat coils.
Keep hands clean to avoid smudges on the finished ceiling.
Always cut mineral fiber or fiberglass ceiling panels face up with a sharp utility knife.
