Fire Rating: Class B

Building codes have specific fire performance requirements for materials considered interior finishes based on the flame-spread index and smoke-developed index. The performance criteria is broken into three categories: Class A, Class B, and Class C. Class A materials have a flame-spread index of 25 or less and smoke-developed index of 450 or less. Class B materials have a flame-spread index of 26-75 and smoke-developed index of 450 or less. Class C materials have a flame-spread index of 76–200 and smoke-developed index of 450 or less. Class A materials are appropriate in many commercial applications and Class C (or better) materials are appropriate in many residential applications. Contact your local code official for additional requirements concerning mechanical and sprinkler use.

What is Sola Felt?

Sola Felt is a ceiling tile material using 3form’s PET technology and 50% post-consumer recycled material. Sola Felt helps control sound with Sola's semi-rigid felt while delivering a stunning visual.

What is architectural resin?

Architectural resin wall panels are an ecological building material that has viscosity, clarity, resistance to chemicals, and fire resistance.

How do I find replacement tiles?

To find replacement tiles, you will need to find the item number of your current tiles. You can do that by removing the ceiling tile and flipping it over. Once you do that, locate the item # on the back of the tile. Enter the item number on our ceiling replacement page to get your match.

How do you clean and disinfect ceiling tiles?

Dust and loose dirt may easily be removed by light brushing or with a vacuum cleaner. The best attachments to use are the ones for cleaning upholstery or walls. Make sure to clean in one direction only to prevent rubbing dust into the surface of the ceiling.

After loose dust has been removed, other marks can be easily erased with an ordinary eraser. Although, a fresh wall cleaner may be preferred.

Mineral fiber ceilings may be cleaned with a moist cloth or a sponge dampened in water containing mild soap. The sponge should contain as little water as possible. After washing, the soapy film should be wiped off with a cloth or sponge slightly dampened in clean water.

How do I know what tile is right for my space?

How often should I change my tiles?

It is recommended to change ceiling tiles out every 10 years. We have a 10-year warranty on most ceiling tiles. You can always patch and match a few tiles in the interim to transform any space or fix damages.

Can I paint my tiles?

All of our mineral fiber ceiling tiles and panels can be painted with latex paints. The front and back of 24-in x 24-in and 24-in x 48-in panels should be painted.

PLEASE NOTE: Field painting will void the warranty. We cannot guarantee that the surface-burning characteristics, fire-resistance ratings, acoustical performance, dimensional stability/sag, or light reflectance will remain the same after repainting. TECTUM tiles can be painted up to 6 times without losing acoustical performance.

What are the different edge profiles and how do I choose?

What is NRC?

The Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) value is the % of sound that can be absorbed by that tile. The best NRC ceiling tiles can absorb up to 95% of sound. Example: An NRC of .95 can absorb 95% of the sound that strikes the tiles surface.

What is CAC?

The Ceiling Attenuation Class (CAC) value is the number of decibels the tile can block from leaving or entering a closed room when installed as a drop ceiling. The best ceiling tiles have a CAC of 45, which blocks 45 decibels of sound that hit the tiles surface.

What are my payment options?

Are samples the same size as a normal ceiling tile?

No, samples are not the same size as normal ceiling tiles. Samples are offered in a 6" x 6" sizing.

What is FIRE GUARD and how is it different than a product's fire rating?

FIRE GUARD means that the product is engineered and tested as part of a fire resistant system, which includes tile, grid and the structure itself.
